Which systems do we service?
Automatic gates are systems in which mechanical and electronic parts work together; over time they need adjustment, cleaning and part replacement. The main systems we service:
- Sliding and swing gate motors
- Sectional, up-and-over and roller garage doors
- Automatic sliding glass doors and revolving doors
- Barriers, number plate recognition cameras and turnstiles
- Automatic roller shutters and window shutters
- Cold room doors, dock shelters and industrial doors
We work with Nice, BFT, FAAC, CAME, Hörmann, Somfy and other brands. When parts are needed we source them from Turkey and, if necessary, contact the brand's authorised representatives directly.
When we take a service request, we first try to find out your system's brand, model and age. This information helps us prepare likely spare parts before we arrive and increases the chance of fixing the problem on the first visit.
Common faults we see in North Cyprus
The climate and infrastructure of Cyprus make some faults more common than others:
- Kıb-Tek power cuts and voltage fluctuations: Control boards can be damaged as power drops and returns; board failure is among the most common problems we see.
- Salt and humidity: In coastal areas such as Kyrenia (Girne), Iskele and Famagusta (Gazimağusa), corrosion appears on motor housings, tracks and connection points.
- Dust and sand: Around Güzelyurt, Lefke and Nicosia (Lefkoşa), dust building up on tracks and photocells causes the gate to jam or the photocell to misdetect.
- Remote control problems: Flat batteries, codes being erased or a faulty receiver.
- Mechanical wear: Gears, belts, springs and rollers wearing over time.
Most of these faults show small warning signs in advance: the gate moving more slowly than usual, unusual noises, reduced remote range, or the gate occasionally stopping and reversing. Calling us when you notice these signs allows the problem to be solved before it grows, and at lower cost.
What does periodic maintenance include?
Maintenance is the way to prevent most faults before they happen. At a maintenance visit we typically:
- Check the motor and gears, lubricating where needed
- Clean tracks, hinges and rollers
- Test photocells, sensors and safety equipment
- Check the control board, connections and earthing
- Measure how well the battery holds charge on battery backup systems
- Readjust force and speed settings for safety
- Review remotes and registered users
The maintenance interval depends on how heavily the gate is used; a complex entrance and a single family's garage do not need maintenance at the same frequency.
At the end of maintenance we explain the work done and what we observed. If a part may need replacing soon, we let you know in advance so you can plan ahead. We can also prepare combined maintenance plans covering all gates for residential complex managements and businesses.
Maintenance and warranty
For systems installed by REKA: 3-year warranty; if periodic maintenance is carried out without interruption, the warranty can be extended to up to 5 years. Keeping to the maintenance schedule is therefore important both for the safe operation of your gate and for extending the warranty period. For systems installed by another company, we explain the work carried out after completing maintenance and repairs.
How does the breakdown service work?
- Contact us: Call us on +90 539 102 13 13 or send a description of the fault on WhatsApp, with a short video if possible.
- Initial assessment: Based on the symptoms, we estimate the likely cause and the parts that may be needed.
- On-site visit: Our team comes to your address, diagnoses the fault and explains the work required.
- Repair and testing: With your approval the repair is carried out, and the gate is tested several times before handover.
You can find our general workflow on our how it works page. If you are in an area with frequent power cuts, battery backup gate systems can help prevent board failures; if your old motor is no longer economical, see replacement options on our automatic gates page.
If your gate has been left open during a breakdown and you have security concerns, or your car is stuck inside, letting us know makes prioritisation easier. Until our team arrives, we recommend not forcing the gate or tampering with the mechanism; incorrect intervention can make the fault worse and create a safety risk.
